Lititz Run State of the Watershed Address”
to Highlight over a Decade of Efforts to Restore the Lititz Run

WARWICK TOWNSHIP (PA) – The Lititz Run State of the Watershed Address, scheduled for 7:00pm, May 26, in Warwick’s middle school auditorium, will highlight over a decade of continuous effort to restore the Lititz Run. It will also address steps that yet need to be taken to bring our nationally-recognized watershed restoration efforts to the next level.

The Address will be given by representatives from the Lititz Run Watershed Alliance, including Matt Kofroth (Watershed Specialist with the Lancaster County Conservation District), Professor Robert Walter (Professor of Geology at Franklin & Marshall College), and Logan Myers (Chairman of the LRWA and the Warwick Township Board of Supervisors).

Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a drawing for a variety of door prizes.

The State of the Watershed Address will follow closely on the heels of Watershed Day, an annual event involving every fifth-grader in the Warwick region. Now in its 14th year, Watershed Day has educated between 4,900 and 5,400 children in a wide variety of watershed issues, from stream chemistry to sewage treatment to soil science to “bugs” (aka macroinvertebrates) and beyond.

With so many Watershed Day alumni now grown up, the LRWA is adding a new dimension to its efforts: adults. The Lititz Run State of the Watershed Address represents the beginning of this effort. There are many simple steps that citizens of Lititz and the region surrounding can take to better steward their watershed, the Conestoga River, the Susquehanna River, and ultimately the Chesapeake Bay.
